AI-centric business development
We build AI into how a business sells, operates and grows.
- Training models on business data
- Process automation
- Business intelligence and data models
- New AI-based products and services
We build AI into businesses with their owners to make them worth more, whether the next step is growth, a sale or a purchase.
Our clients have operating history, customer data and a strategic choice ahead of them.
Businesses that intend to adopt AI in their operations and require a structured plan.
Owners preparing to sell or transfer the business on their own schedule.
Managers seeking to buy into or buy out the business they operate.
Acquirers seeking companies or assets to purchase or invest in.
Our practice covers four areas. Most engagements draw on more than one.
We build AI into how a business sells, operates and grows.
We identify operational constraints and resolve them, and we provide management services where required.
We establish the financial information owners need to operate, fund and sell a business.
We advise on the purchase and sale of businesses and assets, through to closing.
Clients may begin at any stage. Each stage concludes with a written recommendation.
We review operations, financials, data and technology, and report our findings.
We build data models, train AI systems on them, and automate the highest-cost processes.
We prepare financial statements and documentation for valuation and due diligence.
We structure the transaction, identify counterparties or capital, and work with counsel and accountants through closing.
AI runs on data, and so does a valuation. Well-kept data makes a business easier to operate, to value and to sell.
The records used to train a company's models are the same records a buyer will examine.
Automation lowers the cost of each sale and is reflected in operating margin.
A business that runs on systems rather than on individuals commands a higher valuation.
Select an objective to see the structure most often used to achieve it.
The individuals who run the business day to day become its owners, and staff and customers experience little disruption. The purchase is typically financed through senior debt, seller financing and, in some cases, outside equity.
| Structure | Buyer | Interest acquired | Typical purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buyout | Current management, often with investors | Control of the company | Succession or retirement |
| Buy-in | An outside manager or team | Control of the company | No internal successor |
| Acquisition | Another company or investor | Shares or the whole business | Growth or market entry |
| Asset purchase or sale | A buyer of selected assets | Specified assets and contracts, not the legal entity | Acquiring a capability, divesting a division, or excluding liabilities |
| Recapitalization | Lenders or minority investors | A minority stake, or new debt | Liquidity while retaining control |
The firm takes its name from Amaterasu (天照), the sun deity of Japanese tradition, whose name is commonly rendered as "shining in heaven."
The verb terasu (照らす), written with the same character, means "to illuminate." The name reflects our approach: to bring clarity to how a business operates, and to position it to rise.
